Sleep is good. But I too have issues with getting enough. Quiet is good. Chaos is better. Quiet creates chaos. Chaos breeds creativity. Creativity is good. Creativity needs fuel. Sleep is fuel. Sleep is quiet. Chaos is better.
Ghost, Just found your blog and perused. Your poem is great, an onomatopeia (sp?) because it sounds like what it is. Was it posted before or after I told you it was poetry?
Did you know that "silent" and "listen" are the same in two ways? Shhhhh...
I have my 20th h.s. reunion this year in NC and it sounds so unreal. I'm also a Taurus who is into photography but your work is much better than mine.
jerri: I posted after your suggestion. Thanks for the compliment on the photography.
Trying to finish up some work today before the Super Bowl. Who's playing anyway? Big lecture tomorrow and need to get things in order. Can you believe someone would pay to hear my drivel.
Ghost, Just listened to "Lucky" by Radiohead. Da Bears are playin' the Colts, and I hope both lose. I'm a NE Patriots fan. :( What kind of lecture? Your drivel is better than most speeches I'll bet. Send me some Sumatran over this way.
I sometimes worry that I can't fill the time but all too soon I realize that I have run out of time. Kind of all over the place but in the grand scheme of things it all comes together.
k: Went there in the 80's. Might think about teaching there in the future. I got talked into a lecture series, well I guess they didn't have to push to hard, but its about my work not necessarily photography in general.
The D&C did a photography shoot and story of my autistic son Jared last year. They chose it as one of the 12 best shoots of the year and featured Jared in their yearly calendar for 2007. The entire story was up on their site at one point a few weeks ago. This shot of Jared's eye close up is really nice.
A few years ago the D&C (Sundays Arts Section) did a story about me and a project I shot of my youngest son. He is a cancer survivor who lost an eye to a rare from of the disease.
Ghost, I'm e-mailing you one of my favorite quirky shots b/c I don't know how to post them here yet. It's called "retro life" for lack of a better title.
We should take Mia's suggestion and do a bloggers coffee break. I don't know how to get in touch with any of the others (except on the blog, in front of the world) so I'm not quite sure how to make arrangements if there is an interest.
Maybe a cryptic code that requies the decoder ring from an Ovaltine package. Who knows.
I agree. KC e-mailed me from my Bio on the D&C site, so I have her e-mail as well as Mia's from that communique. I can send them an e-mail. I can meet you guys anytime after 2:00 most weekdays but evenings after 5:30 are better. The Leaf & Bean is close to me but I don't know what is half way since I'm not from here. I have my decoder ring ready. Our code word could be "42" since that's the answer to the universe in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
I went to McDonald's playland in Gates today and my autistic son Jared proceeded to interview everyone in the place. It's cute now because he's only 9, but someday...
If it wasn't for the Super Bowl I'd say let's meet at the Leaf & Bean right now.
I take Tuesdays off, however this Tuesday is booked, next week is fine. I’m also available any Friday, after 12-noon. Nights are also flexible (except 2/13 – town meeting), weekends are good but sometimes tricky – depends on day & time (have that late afternoon - Sunday bowl, you know). Tomorrow I am off (every 3rd. Mon.) – and that is it for the week. I am also available after 2:00 am – wide awake! – Take your pick.
I'm flexible on location, though I am directionally challenged since I've only lived here a few years. I know the Jitters in Henrietta if that's closer for you. Leaf and Bean is like 7-10 minutes from my house. Let's see what the others say. Did I tell you, I'm going to start going by a symbol instead of "Jerri," ala Prince. Thinking of either a fermata or an infinity symbol. LOL.
You will have to count me out this week. Strong is calling my name. Maybe next week things will be a little more calm for me. You three should go and I will go next time.
Next week would have to be daytime due to business travel. I'd be free next week only from 10:30-12:00 Tues., Wed. & Fri. Insane schedule next week, will be in major need of coffee.
Hey, This is a poem I wrote today. It was just too cold for even me, the Fahrenheit Anarchist, so I pondered and pontificated and wrote a little. Mount Washmore will have to wait another day. Here's my drivel:
It always starts out the same First the light Then the waking
Life through the window pane You on my mind Then the aching
It always ends the same First the night Then the waking
Thanks, ghost. I crave simplicity. Complicated is vile.
I snapped this shot in Connecticut on Christmas Eve about 10 years ago. It was a damp window pane, kind of foggy from the moist outside and the scene was all woodsy and snowy but occluded through the foggy window. I just love that shot and your photo of the girl in the woods reminds me of that. Life is sometimes like that, occluded.
Jerri- Where do I mail the check for the psychiatric evaluation? I smell a degree in this, am I right? YOU are now the clever one, my dear – too clever.
Hey, KC, how did you know? Yes, I have a degree in Psychology but it's only a B.A. I'm just compassionate, crazy and kind, and all that "Marvel"-ous stuff. Checks can be mailed to "Wonder Woman" at 123 Penny Lane, Who-ville, NY 11111 and it's tax-deductible. :)
Hmm…and the ghost would refer to that as "divine intervention" - as he has in the past. He too, reeks of cleverness - seems to be abundant in these days that we are living – there is no avoiding it and why should we anyway? Without challenge, there can never be progress.
KC, "Divine intervention" sounds so right-wing and I hardly had you or ghost pegged for that. :) In life, there are no accidents, only 14-car pileups. It is funny how life is so relevant, like that old saying "no matter where you look, there you are."
"Jane, you ignorant slut!" Loved that SNL thing. Interestingly, the D&C has commissioned me to do just that against this other community Editorial Board member, Alex Zapesochny. I am the Dem, he's the Rep. Should be fun. He just better not be calling me an ignorant slut or we'll have a throw-down. I grew up with boys in the South. :) KC is on the right? Didn't see that coming. I used to be on the right, then the left, now in the middle with a little bit of all thrown in. Hard to peg.
Oh, come on you two – I am nowhere lately but face up on the floor on my back and far from the “ceiling” and walls – left or right. Just bought a huge bottle of Tylenol pm, going to sleep tonight! I would like to refer to myself as a conservative that has some liberal soft sides - not many but, there a couple there. Yes I am to the right, but not as far as I have been in the past. I have been recently coached from one that I admire very much.
Now, when is the coffee hour? Ghost – if it is just us left, as I think we are abandoned this week, do we still need to venture out to Chililand? I have yet to renew my passport and have a manicure appt. in 10 min. in Brighton (ha-ha, true) you will know it when I get there, you’ll feel it from the ground. How about the Starry-nights joint on University & Atlantic (triangelular bld.), I think it is about ½ way for us both? No problem either way, I will not hold you to it - but it would be nice to escape for a while.
Ok here, I just got in and have an email from Jerri regarding Wed. night – is that Tomorrow? All right now, I have a message from the ghost – availability at 6- 6:30? Tonight? I am so challenged right now; I can’t even find the sports page link yet, Jerri!
I really was at one time considered resourceful, really I was!
Jerri & Ghost: Do you have each other’s emails? And, do you ghost - have mine? If not, I can be found in the creative way that we found you, it is possible. “Seek and thy shall find” – unless you mark the subject line to identify, I will not open it.
And BTW ghost – About your above reference to H.S.T. – Generation of swine…I have not forgotten about that – Is the alternative an ape, monkey or sconsemonkey? Am I close? I bet yes!
ghost: I feel bad – never thought you’d go without confirming. I received no call so my manicure turned into a pedicure as well – got home around 7. Now - what is the deal, Camille? And, what is up w/ the swine comment? And, no pictures either – I am ridiculously shy in person – it just will not happen. Take them of Mia & Jerri – they want an update on their D&C link. Yes, coffee is good - am on 2nd cup already.
Where? If I don't hear from you guys I am just going to be at the Leaf and Bean in Chili at 7:15ish tonight and will stay for an hour. I'll be dressed as Wonder Woman. :)
I have a D&C meeting today. Could it be that I'm going to meet both KC and Mia at this meeting at 12:00???
Ghost: Have you read the book – Letter to a Christian Nation - by Sam Harris (author of National Best Seller – The End of Faith)? It came home (my home!) in a black briefcase a week or so ago and I am disturbed and confused by this. I am a creature of familiarity, this is new to me; should I fear my home going down in flames?
Jerri – Yes, we’re on for 12 – I will see you there. I will look for the Wonder Woman – not to worry, we will find you. You will know Mia & I, we will have our lipstick on – can’t miss us!
Tonight will work, I think. Will give a definite confirmation upon return!
Ok, you two – we’re on for tonight – 7:15, with bells on! Will we be able to find each other? I will map quest it out.
Confirmed Trio – Mia has to work and I could not for the life of me get her to reschedule – believe me, I tried. She insists we all meet anyway and will participate next time.
Jerri: you little Southern Belle, you – you are just darling! Darling!
KC, Loved your red lipstick today. Very you. You and Mia are both lovely women, such sweet eyes and personalities. Loved ya! See you tonight, "y'all." (Southernism) Leaf and Bean is in the same parking lot as BlockBuster.
Damn good coffee indeed! That was so fun and it was great, just fantastic, to meet you all today. Won't be able to sleep until I figure out KC's California man...
How bout those bitchin' Camaros on the way home? I counted them, saw 6 – you?
Had I not followed you home - I would still be out there!
Grateful that you knew your way, I would have had to check in to a hotel till daylight came. Thanks for leading - yikes.
I finally met my ghost – quite a shocker! You were not at all what I had expected, not even in one way – I was sure I had you pegged. I was way off.
The pleasure was mine – what a great day – First, Jerri – then you – wonderful day!
I have not had this much fun since the Banana Republic Clearance Catalog came last spring – Well, Floyd The Food Guy’s moving sale would be a close second.
- How will I ever sleep now? I am all coffee’d up – I never drink coffee this late – did we close that place?
Jerri – Ha - It is the obvious & you are trying too hard. I will not give in to either of you - forget about it. It was 20 years ago & I prefer to leave it there. You two are too funny. Good time, good company – thanks to you both!
Jerri – He had gotten there first and when I stormed in we both looked at each other and looked the other way – we both were expecting the opposite. He was waiting for a mouse to arrive in the house (you really had the impression of mousey?) and I had expected a much older, much more gruff and rough. I was completely shocked to meet a polished, youthful & hip ghost that was hot – boy, I was so off on that one! I am usually pretty good with this sense – I am totally proven wrong! I am still shaking my head over this!
I sat at the table behind him and waited till you came in – he heard us mention his name and then that was it – instant laughter till the place closed. I sent over the pictures to both of you – check your mail. The memory is officially documented and waiting for you both.
Although, closing down a coffee shop doesn't seem to have the luster and Kerouacian romance of being phyically removed from an other types of establishments. Ahh, the days gone by. All that fun, and for only $1.78. What more could you ask for?
Ghost: Hey! You “wrote” sting months ago regarding my writing but -You “said” you had “expected mousey in person” in person last night. You also implied that I was not as you had envisioned. My God, I am a conservative – not a corpse! You are contradicting your self, dear – my memory serves me well. I am shy – I think I am very shy. No? It must have been an over site on your part; it is there somewhere.
Now, you – I expected the tat, knew of the shaved head but never expected you to be so well mannered and polite – I am still in shock. I will try your aspirin under the tongue today to understand how I could have been so off.
As for the ceiling –– My ceilings are vaulted the ladder is way out back in the shed - too much snow to get out there – hopeless case. Sorry, I need more than a step ladder to participate; I am too short to reach them these days.
Ghost, I like that "6 ft. of Southern drawl." Gonna use that. And, yes, it lacked Kerouacian elements but then again, we all did leave "On The Road" didn't we? :) Last time I was tossed out of a place it was a movie theater (don't ask).
I've always wanted to recreate this show "Northern Exposure." I even travelled to the spot where they filmed it north of Seattle. I think you two quirky characters should be recruited for my created village. We'll call it "Upstate Exposure" and Ghost should get a kick outta that since he's a photographer (exposure).
KC, you looked smaller and more striking than I had imagined.
Ghost, you were pretty much what I expected (rabble rouser, young and hip) except for the hair. I expected spiky blonde for some reason. You would love my husband because your personalities are similar, down to the Mason-Dixon line. He calls it the "Manson-Nixon" line.
Ok, ghost – I finally found it – wow –back in the archives of - 12/14/2006 9:09 PM - But it was there, as you had said – I had read all the posts between us then – Oh, that was back in the day and age that you were out to kill me, remember? We did not get along to well in those days did we? Wow, what a little snot I was to you. Hmm…well, maybe you had it coming? Ok, truce – a little bit of both, is that fair?
Anyway, now that I have found it – I will take and run with this as a compliment. Thank you so much, I now understand. That was very nice of you to write. I am no longer confused - I did not catch it the first time to have remembered it. I will consume it as a compliment from both you and Mia today - Thanks guys.
You both have enlarged my head so much that I now need to put my sweater on to proceed to the cold outside and grab my ladder from the shed to reach the cob webs of my cielings (they are pretty high) - Maybe I’ll do the windows as well this afternoon.
Jerri – you thought I was tall? I’m 5’1 and still waiting to develop at the age of 43, think there is any hope for me when I finally decide to grow up? I kind of like my more youthful twin – she is much more fun. And, she really is harmless on the rare occasion that I let her out.
You thought the ghost had blonde spiked hair? I knew his head was shaved – just imagined it to be on a much more seasoned head and body. I pegged him for the biker type. I guess that we both stand corrected, huh? Wow!
Hey – I only shoot sheets on a laundry line w/ red & black circles on them from point blank range – No hunting and no killing under my belt. And yes, I do this with my lipstick on.
I need to get past that mousey comment...ok, it's gone.
ghost, What the hell is that shot of? Your head? Do you have pins in there? Was forced to shoot a skeet in h.s. gym class because I went to school in HICKville. What does shooting a rifle have to do with gym class? Apparently a lot in the South...
Hey – am I # 100? Ghost – I’m so glad to learn that the x-ray man is not you. I would have become troubled by that as it looks so painful. As for Anna Nicole – Did she not have enough chaos in her life to entwine her family with? - how sad to leave behind a new born with its whole life ahead – motherless.
Jerri - you are too funny with the skeet shooting comment – it is a sport, you know; not for everyone but a recreation for many – even in Upstate N.Y.! - We may not have the 6’ of lovely Southern drawl – but we know how to exercise the 2nd with pride and privilege. I am slapping some trivia on Mia’s blog in your honor. Let’s see who can figure it out?
I can not play with you both today till later – I have to rip out 2 rooms of carpeting (there goes the manicure!) I’ll be home later in the afternoon. I will can door # 4, ok? I’ll send it south (pun intended)!
KC, dahling, don't EVEN get me started on the 2nd amendment. We will not find common ground on that I'm afraid. 1. How is killing an animal with a gun a sport? If you killed it with your bare hands, then maybe I'd consider that a sport because some actual athleticism was used. If you eat the meat you kill and need it for sustenance, I have no problem with hunting. Killing an animal is not a sport. Target shooting? I guess that could be a sport, though a very docile one. 2. The right to bear arms was formulated at a time when our country was a WILDERNESS, not the bucolic serenity we have now (well, most places not counting the inner cities of Rochester and Detroit). Our "well armed militia" is roaming the streets of Rochester at night and keeps me from frequenting it at night as a result. 3. I adore you anyway even though you're completely wrong! :) LOL! Ghost, jump in here.
j: I think I need to agree with k:'s history on the issue of firearms. I do believe that she owns for home protection. Protection from what I'm not sure. Implied threats from media hype or perhaps the war is coming over here from over there. I grew up with lots of firearms in the home and have to say that I refrain from following suit in my own home.
That being said I'm sure I felt some heat under k:'s jacket while a hug was taking place. Shoulder holster, Dirty Harry style, the works.
What exactly is your official capacity in the PTA? Minister of Security, I suspect.
K, Love you too, sweetie. I love getting a rise out of people like that. :) I'm so bad.
I think it is important to protect your home from jungle cats, great big rats and Democrats. Oops, I AM a Democrat, so what am I SAYING? :) But truly and sincerely, I think the likelihood of you being injured by your own firearm is much greater than an intruder coming into your home. The only thing I'm packing is humor and my now infamous 6-ft. Southern drawl.

Sounds good to me.
k:
A Generation of Swine. A little HST reference.
Off to a Super Bowl party, I'll check in later. Who's playing again? I have to throw down a bet so not to look like a complete rube.
Tomorrow is good for me.
Ghost,
My best bet is Go for the Colts b/c Peyton Manning looks like he's going to finally win.
Tomorrow at 6pm at Leaf and Bean works for me. Let me know. I'm off to make dinner for the Super Bowl but will check this out later.
My lecture is at 7:00. Cutting it a bit close.
Days are actually best on Mon and Tues. Evenings the rest of the week.
Are anyone of you available for a coffee blog during the week after dinner? I just call ghost the ghost of history.....

Hey Ghost,
Did you take my Colts advice? I know sports.
I'm free evenings from 2:00 p.m. on generally. How's everyone for this Wed. night around 7pm?
jerri:
All were for the Colts so I went with the flow.
Let's see whats good for Mia and k: but Wed. would be fine.
Eside WSide City L&B??????????

Just like the old SNL Point/Counterpoint
"Jane, you ignorant slut!" Loved that SNL thing. Interestingly, the D&C has commissioned me to do just that against this other community Editorial Board member, Alex Zapesochny. Ghost, email me for kc cell
I don't have your email. Just relay message.
I am free every evening this week. What is halfway between you guys and Churchville, where I rest my Bat signal? Henrietta?
Ok here, I just got in and have an email from Jerri regarding Wed. night – is that Tomorrow?
All right now, I have a message from the ghost – availability at 6- 6:30?
Tonight?
I am so challenged right now; I can’t even find the sports page link yet, Jerri!
I really was at one time considered resourceful, really I was!
Jerri & Ghost:
Do you have each other’s emails?
And, do you ghost - have mine?
If not, I can be found in the creative way that we found you, it is possible.
“Seek and thy shall find” – unless you mark the subject line to identify, I will not open it.
And BTW ghost – About your above reference to H.S.T. – Generation of swine…I have not forgotten about that – Is the alternative an ape, monkey or sconsemonkey? Am I close? I bet yes!
I have Ghost's e-mail. I am free Wed., tomorrow, 2/07, around 7pm. You both have my e-mail. Where if we meet?
Jamaican Me Crazy.
At least that's what I had at Starry Nights this evening. No sign of Vincent or k: for that matter.
Another time. Soon?
k: Coffee? Yes, tonight. Had to run off to class so I couldn't stay that long. I should have taken my laptop. They have wireless access for FREE.
"I can be found in the creative way that we found you, it is possible."
Are you refering to me or Jerri?
Is that a technology challenge? I love a challenge.
Ghost, you have Starry Night. I love that so much. I have it posted in my autistic son's room because it mesmerizes him.
It should mesmerize most.
A new day. Let's start fresh. Coffee?
ghost:
I feel bad – never thought you’d go without confirming.
I responded to your post but I assume you had already left for Brighton. Then technology got in the way. See above posts.
jerri is free this PM. You?
Yes, free tonight (2/07).
Is this a lunch meeting?
I recommend the grilled cheese on sourdough. The tomato soup is good, but not like Campbell's, a bit more chunky.
Ghost,
I am meeting some area moms at the D&C's offices for a new website venture. I thought I saw Mia's and KC's e-mails on the list.
I will still be at the Leaf and Bean tonight around 7:15 unless I hear from you guys.
Running off to shower and get ready for my day...
I'm in.
Ghost:
Have you read the book – Letter to a Christian Nation - by Sam Harris (author of National Best Seller – The End of Faith)?
It came home (my home!) in a black briefcase a week or so ago and I am disturbed and confused by this. I am a creature of familiarity, this is new to me; should I fear my home going down in flames?
Jerri –
Yes, we’re on for 12 – I will see you there. I will look for the Wonder Woman – not to worry, we will find you. You will know Mia & I, we will have our lipstick on – can’t miss us!
Tonight will work, I think.
Will give a definite confirmation upon return!
Ghost – you in?
I have Harris' book but haven't started it yet. Still finishing The God Delusion (Richard Dawkins).
Emailed all via response from jerri.
Black briefcases?...........creepy. Is this like a Mission Impossible kinda thing?
Working on The End of Faith (Harris) as well.
“Black briefcases?...........creepy. Is this like a Mission Impossible kinda thing?”
That is exactly what it is – an impossible mission – could not have better described it myself.
Going to stir things up at the D&C are you?
I do believe that the jump rope is already in full swing - I only intend to jump in for a short time to assist.
Is Mia available for coffee or does she have personal stuff to deal with. I've been there its tough.
Sorry Mia,
I didn't mean to speak of you as if you were not "here".
She is unable, looks like we are a Trio -
Ok, you two – we’re on for tonight – 7:15, with bells on!
Darling!
KC,
Loved your red lipstick today. Very you. You and Mia are both lovely women, such sweet eyes and personalities. Loved ya! See you tonight, "y'all." (Southernism)
Leaf and Bean is in the same parking lot as BlockBuster.
Damn Good Coffee!
Jerri –
Ha - It is the obvious & you are trying too hard. I will not give in to either of you - forget about it. It was 20 years ago & I prefer to leave it there. You two are too funny. Good time, good company – thanks to you both!
KC,
I absorb a challenge and turn it into part of my cellular structure. Your secret is doomed, lady...
Hahahaha (evil laugh).
Yes, we closed the place down. Haven't done that in a long time.
It's too funny that you and Ghost were sittin' there not talking until I came in. Silly geese!

Jerri –
He had gotten there first and when I stormed in we both looked at each other and looked the other way – we both were expecting the opposite.
Ladies,
Truly a pleasure to meet with you last eve.
jerri: my new friend from south of the M-D Line. What you lack in my preconcieved height issue you make up for with 6 ft. of southern drawl.
k: Oh, k: surely not shy at all. The sting is there, its glaringly obvious. Visions of the ceiling.......
mia: the words, the voice, what's next?
Although, closing down a coffee shop doesn't seem to have the luster and Kerouacian romance of being phyically removed from an other types of establishments. Ahh, the days gone by.
All that fun, and for only $1.78. What more could you ask for?
Ghost:
Hey!
I did refer to a sting, and do you recall mia's response?
no.
?
Seek and ye shall find.
I'll see if I can find it - it was a couple months ago, right?
I'll find it, ok?
Ghost,
I like that "6 ft. of Southern drawl." Gonna use that.
Wow!
Jerri –
PS -
Did you assume mousey too? I think that is bad.
Where is that coming from? I need to loose it immediately!
No, not mousy at all. I assumed hip, red-lipsticked and mankiller. I am very perceptive, psych degree and all (LOL), so I was 100% correct.
Hey – I only shoot sheets on a laundry line w/ red & black circles on them from point blank range – No hunting and no killing under my belt. And yes, I do this with my lipstick on.
I need to get past that mousey comment...ok, it's gone.
k: "I will take and run with this as a compliment."
As well you should.
ghost,
What the hell is that shot of? Your head? Do you have pins in there? Was forced to shoot a skeet in h.s. gym class because I went to school in HICKville. What does shooting a rifle have to do with gym class? Apparently a lot in the South...
KC, what do you have against sheets?
This post has been removed by the author.
Xray is a nail gun mishap gone wrong, very wrong. Not me.
Skeet's a sport just like Neckcar and spittin' t'backy.
(said in my best 6ft drawl)

I think I need to agree with k:'s history on the issue of firearms.
K,
Love you too, sweetie. I love getting a rise out of people like that. :) I'm so bad.
I think it is important to protect your home from jungle cats, great big rats and Democrats. Oops, I AM a Democrat, so what am I SAYING? :)
But truly and sincerely, I think the likelihood of you being injured by your own firearm is much greater than an intruder coming into your home. The only thing I'm packing is humor and my now infamous 6-ft. Southern drawl.
