I've seen it. It's real. And it's scary.

Hey, Countrywide! Fuck you!

Two of my friends are taking it to Countrywide for threatening foreclosure on their house. Why you ask? Because they are a lesbian couple. Simple as that.

Lambda Legal has filed suit against the mortgage company for their actions.

Read more here and here.

Where's the local press on this local story?

"Countrywide responded by stating that the couple had breached their agreement with the lender by changing the deed and stated that the lender did not recognize domestic partners as family"

I'm a "domestic partner". I'm on the deed and the mortgage. Not that it matters, but I'm heterosexual...we've been together 21 years and we have 2 kids together. How are we not a family?
It's funny.....the whole time we've been together....everyone (except maybe 10 couples that I know) that pushed for us to get married....are divorced or separated now. Everyone that asks me why I'm not wearing a ring...(since I refer to my "domestic partner" as "my husband" just to make things easier) and I have to go into the whole "technically, we're not married but we've been together 21 years" story....and they always answer "Well, you might as well be married. Aren't you common law?"

I always, ALWAYS want to say "Well, you might as well shut the fuck up because it's really none of your business. I've lived with my dog for 10 years. Does that make us common law too?"

Why did they just assume that we should be considered "married"? Because we love each other? Because we've lived together for a very long time? Because we both love kids? Because we wanted to share a life together? Because we make each other happy?

Aren't those the same reasons gays and lesbians want to get married?

Ya know, 4 out of 5 divorced people say that same sex couples seeking legal unions are a threat to the sanctity of marriage.

I love this guy.....

I'm just blown away by this one. My jaw dropped when I found out.

As long as the mortgage company gets there money per the documents specifications, in a monthly fashion for the term of the loan, why should they care?

Can't wait to see this one pan out.

Where is the local press?
