I've seen it. It's real. And it's scary.

Pick Your Poison

The Presidential primaries left many voters feeling as if they had to choose from the lesser of two (or three or even four) evils. The Democrats think they have the "Dream Ticket" in Obama and Clinton but the differences in the two platforms really leaves little variety. Now that Edwards has dropped out of the race we will hear less and less about the plight of the country's poor in any meaningful way. Sure there will be obligatory soundbytes and photo ops (perception is reality, after all) but the meaning behind the mantra will be hollowed out. Hollowed out is a feeling you should get used to.

The Republicans have the choice of an aging, tempermental McCain, a flip-flopper Romney (who reminds many voters of a used car salesman), an evangelical soft-spoken Huckabee, and Ron Paul. Who can get excited?

The more I think about it the more this election season feels like "Pick Your Poison." Either way, you're gonna get sick.

AHH, the glass is half full.

I am really enjoying this primary season. It is the embodyment of the slow and steady progress in the democratic system. It is much too early for gloom and doom, or apathetic snarkiness. The big picture looks good for those who dislike the current Administrations policies. And the American public is more engaged in the process. Witness turnouts of young voters and record breaking primary participation. The American experience and awakening is upon us. There will be fits and starts, yet somehow thats how we muddle through. Save your angst for the General election. But look at the big picture.

There are still many situations the current Administration can bring to bear upon us, yet we continue to have a fire and thirst for an equitable society.

It is good to have candidates, actually participate in discussion of policy, rather than mud sling.

The person that I would watch carefully is Carl Rove at FOX. And the people must engage with him, not the candidates. Hold your fire for His analysis and turn of phrase.

We need some of our entreprenurial friends to develop an Ann Coulter, Rush Limbo, and Carl Rover doll. With proceeds to benefit the Homeless veterans.
