In the meantime, I Data Girl, have been exploring the NOAA website.

5 million acres of farm land lost to flood this year. Only 1.8 billion in relief(low cost loans). Large agribusiness will do fine. Family farmers will probably lose their farms. Meanwhile here in NYS our apple, cherry, pear and peach crops 80% destroyed by hail. Family farmers close to home may lose their farms.

Be prepared for large hikes in food prices across the board, in addition to the already deep problem of additional fuel costs.

If you haven't planted your gardens yet please do so. Do not squak at quality at the farm market. But please do shop at the farm markets, keep their cash flow coming in.

Fallout overseas will be a severely reduced ability to provide aid to starving countries.

Top soil has been washed down stream and polluted with raw sewage and chemical pollution.

A massive cleanup effort will be required. Georgie boy should be calling in the National Gaurd, yet they are overseas. It is up to the people to help provide relief, and labor to resucitate our bread basket; 6/18/2008 07:02:00 PM
